【コンテスト詳細】

■China Jewelry Design and Craftsmanship Contest

For further improvement of overall level of Chinese jewelry design, sparking the inspiration for

creative works,and particularly stirring up the professional and amateur jewelry designers’ enthusiasm

for creations in a bid to enable the level of Chinese jewelry design to be in line with the international

one ; in hot pursuit of whatユs in vogue today, as well as to arouse the peopleユs aesthetic interest, and

carry forward the modern jewelry design concept bearing Chinese characteristics and in furtherance of

the development of Chinese jewelry design, itユs thereby decided to organize China Jewelry Design and

Craftsmanship Contest, which are themed 「YIN」. The contest will be held on November 23, 2011 to

October 2012. Two groups (Professional /Student) are set up for the design contest and also two

groups (Individual /Team) are set up for the craftsmanship contest.

 

Rules of the Design Contest:

1. Theme: YIN

 

2. Introduction of Theme:

Yin can be interpreted as impression and reflection about people or things around

as well as the mirror of society and history. It can also be understood as the marks and moments that

are worth treasuring for the whole life. It also represents the trace of emotion and experience left in

peopleユs life.

 

3. Promotion of the theme design:

In the diversified society, peopleユs attitude and understanding become more

open to the life. With the development of jewelry making techniques and cutting techniques, people have

a new understanding of gem, the precious gift of the nature. The diamond inclusions once seen as impurity

are interpreted as the natural birthmark.

The modern jewelry design, breaking through the conventions in terms of inlay technique and material choice,

is developed by innovative idea and farsighted vision.

 

4. Major materials used for jewelry designs:

Gold, platinum, diamond, fancy stone, pearl, jadeite and other auxiliary materials highlighting the artistry.

6. Categories of Design Contents:

1). Sports Wear: Jewelry applied to the sports series pays attention to the selection of materials and conforms

to the theory of ergonomics, with wearerユs comfort guaranteed; they look delicate, handy and dynamics as well,

lay stress on being of practicability, functions and possible combinations, Imagination, passion, resolution,

pleasantness as well as love.

 

2). Business Suit: Dignity impressed and suitably dressed; conformable to the philosophy of wearing for business

people of modern society and daily life; not rigidly adhere to the normal practice accepted; distinctive thinking in

design; and taking a bold step for having the design style adapting to the manner prevalent in the new working

environment.

 

3). Casual Wear: Feeling relaxed and style vividly presented; full of vigor and personality perfectly reflected;

imbued with designerユs personal intelligence and realization; the designs preferable to both dynamic and static;

and excellence derived from heart.

 

4). Cocktail Dress: Fashionable young women in the bustling city, tranquillity in racket; and the fancy color rays

emitted from the mystic light. The designers should keep in their mindsユ eyes who is メsheモ, the right person they’re

working for and the best way to wear for メherモ, pay meticulous attention to craftsmanship of works; have superbly

worked out design curves; and have courage to do experiment with many and varied materials, unafraid of taking risks.

 

5). Formal Attire (Dressed when attending evening party): Red Carpet, high-grade jewelry, high-quality handiwork,

precious stone; and sophisticated setting technology; one can feel the weight; being of creativity, imagination and

classical and magnificent sense: brimmed with enchanting and graceful bearing; and imagine that メsheモ is China in her

youth, who is striding proudly ahead on the most impressive red carpet.

 

 

7. Requirements for jewelry design contestants:

1. The design work has to be a single piece of jewelry for men or women.

2. The subject of the work is required to meet the criteria for each category the contestant applied for. And the

characteristics of the category have to be highlighted in his or her design.

3. The draft and finished product have to be drawn to scale. The right size of the mounting cardboard is 25cm_35cm.

And there should be no mark (whatever it is) appeared in the draft, exclusive of the work.

 

 

8. Qualifications for the contestants to be

Those who are jewelry design majors, nonprofessionals or its enthusiastic alike can apply for the participation. School

students can participate in the contest of Student Group, while others participate in the contest of Professional Group.

Every contestant is allowed to join any of the five categories at will. However, only 1-2 piece(s) of work can be chosen

for submittal. Also, the contestantユs work is

allowed to submit in one name (i.e. individual or organization) only. In addition, members of judge panel and organizing

committee cannot take part in the contest in any form. The organizing committee shall keep strictly confidential the

information about the names and companies of each and every contestant.

 

 

9. Criteria for judging jewelry designs:

10. Evaluation

* Draft Design Evaluation:

The students entries (overseas and domestic entries account for 50% respectively) and professional entries (overseas

and domestic entries account for 50% respectively) selected from preliminary evaluation are entitled to enter the jewelry

making technique competition.

 

* Finished Product Evaluation:

The final awards for student category include Rising Star Award (1 winner), Most Innovative Design Award (2 winners),

Most Promising Designer Award for finished product (3 winners). The professional awards include Best Jewelry Designer

Award (1 winner), Most Innovative Jewelry Award (2 winners) and New Star Designer Award for finished product (3 winners).

 

 

11. Submittal of entries for the Jewelry Design Contest and deadline:

Valid date of receiving contestantsユ works: May 30, 2012 (since issuing this announcement).
